"Football has to be FUN for kids or it doesn't make sense"
- Johan Cruyff
OVERVIEW
Our philosophy is to develop confident and intelligent soccer players through a unique style of coaching. This model is a player-centered approach to coaching, where the player comes first. All aspects of the game: technical, physical, tactical and game intelligence are developed in an integrated manner for greater transfer and result.
"We emphasize development over winning at all costs"
Players will be required to be born in 2017, 2016 & 2015.
Age appropriate training sessions will be provided for all of the Coaching Staff of the NextGen Program. These training sessions will focus on the developmental pathway of the players throughout the entire season. As players continue to develop, they will be provided with the appropriate challenge to further their skill sets.
This program will be overseen by Club Directors every training night and they will play a key role in the Next Generation of Athletes that Hillsboro Rush produces.

HILLSBORO RUSH PHILOSOPHY
We believe in developing the player throughout the club. From kinder through to High School, we believe that every team should be recognizable to another within our club. Players should join the pathway at Kinder level, continue that growth through NextGen and finish with our Premier Competitive programs.
This model creates continuity within the club, which allows each player to learn the language, coaching style and most importantly - how to play within our club parameters. No player should ever have to "relearn" their play when moving from one team to another.
We build our club and coaching philosophy with development at the very foundation of what we do on a daily basis.
Below are the four pillars of what each player will be encouraged to master throughout their soccer career with us at Hillsboro Rush.
01. BUILD FROM THE BACK
Learn to encourage play to begin with the goalkeeper. We want every player to be comfortable on the ball, maximizing touches and encouraging individual growth within the system of play.
02. POSSESSION WITH A PURPOSE
Every player is involved at every moment of play. We encourage movement of the ball within the team, being patient as you shift the opposition, waiting for gaps to appear. When they do, the player must be able to pick the right pass.
03. ALWAYS PLAY WITH ATTACK ON YOUR MIND
We want our players to create as many goal scoring opportunities as possible. This will result in more creativity in the final third, encouraging all players to express themselves and be unpredictable.
04. THE FIRST DEFENDER IS THE FIRST ATTACKER
A high press will allow the team to win the ball back as high up the pitch as possible. Therefore, we encourage every player to learn to defend, and attack.
UNIFORMS
Going into the 2023/24 season, Hillsboro Rush is embracing a new look to our uniforms. With the current climate, we know that everyone has been affected financially, and our new kits are more economically aware than ever.
All of our competitive programs will now wear the same uniforms to create a clear sense of unity and pathway for the players. To make things easier for our membership, we have placed all of our uniforms for purchase through our trusted partner - Capelli. You can purchase your uniforms online, or in person at the Rush Office.
