HOW DO TRY OUTS WORK?

Players are placed in age group pools and evaluated over the Try Out windows in May. If selected for a Competitive team, the parents will be notified within 24 hours of the last session. We have multiple teams at every age group, and so we endeavor to find an appropriate level for every player.

Purpose

To provide a competitive environment for our community with licensed/certified coaches who's sole focus is to further develop every player within the team, with an emphasis on development over results.

Plan on arriving 20-30 minutes prior to the start of the tryout to check-in and so that your player can receive their tryout number (be sure to save tryout number for the second night).

Your player will be directed to the appropriate field after checking in.

Please make sure they have a soccer ball, cleats, shinguards, and water.

Once tryouts are complete, our coaches will meet to discuss their evaluations and create the teams. This process will be finalized by May 15th.

Teams will be formed after an evaluation period during Try Outs. This does not mean that rosters will be set for the entire year, as players will develop at different rates and based on the needs of the player, he/she may be moved.

After the rosters are formed, teams will use TeamSnap as their communication platform. This will give you full access to the training schedule, communication with coaching staff, availability and HealthCheck throughout the season.

WHO SHOULD TRY OUT?

Any competitive level players born between 2016 & 2006 regardless of club affiliation, Advanced and Recreational players seeking competitive team placement must register for and attend tryouts.

All players currently registered as Competitive Hillsboro Rush players are required to register and attend tryouts.

Players moving into the area after tryouts will be placed according to their ability through the course of the year by the responsible Director of Coaching (DOC) and Head Coach.

Logistics at JB Thomas ;

  • Please park your car in a designated spot either in the adjacent car parking slots or by street parking. Please do not park in the area designated for Staff.
  • Please bring your player on Night 1 30 minutes early to ensure you have plenty of time to check in. You can then check in at the tent that has your birth year displayed.
  • You will be provided with a player number and several pins. Please step to the side and help your player attach the number to their right thigh.
  • Players will then go to the respective field, while parents must go to the Parent Observation Area. At no point should a parent enter the field unless instructed to do so by a Rush member of staff.
